Foreign Missions

Foreign Missions:

Argentina - We have partnered with Mark Lykins, missionary to Argentina, in reaching out to people trapped in extreme poverty. We have sent two teams of members there to work among the poor. In addition, we have provided ongoing funding for things such as a food closet and camping experiences for kids suffering in poverty.

Stop Hunger Now - We have partner significantly with Stop Hunger Now, an international relief agency that provides direct food aid and other emergency relief in crisis areas and wherever chronic hunger and malnutrition are to be found. The Goals of "Stop Hunger Now" include: 1. Provide food to people suffering from chronic hunger and malnutrition. 2. Provide emergency food and other relief assistance in the most rapid, efficient, and cost-effective manner possible. 3 Help people rebuild their lives after the crisis has passed. In the winter of 2001, we partnered with Stop Hunger Now as they led United Methodists across eastern North Carolina in a collection of over 38,000 blankets to be sent to refugees in Afghanistan.

Breakfast of Love - This ministry in Peru feeds street children on a daily basis.

Russian Theological Seminary - This new seminary in Moscow is training Methodist pastors to take the Gospel to people across this former Soviet state.

Priority Associates - A ministry of Campus Crusade for Christ, that is committed to winning people to Christ in the marketplace. Jay Stott, one of our members, is the director of the Raleigh Area division of Priority Associates. We regularly partner financially with Priority Associates. It was our joy to help send Jay to Prague in the Chech Republic to work in missions with the Priority Associates division located there.

Samaritan’s Purse - Imagine the childlike joy of boys and girls as they open their presents on Christmas morning. Now, imagine that joy magnified tenfould as a child who has never received a present, a child who has suffered because of war, natural disaster, poverty, illness, or neglect receives a shoe box filled to overflowing with gifts. That’s the impact that Operation Christmas Child has on needy children around the world. Operation Christmas Child, a unique project of Christian relief and evangelism organization Samaritan’s Purse, delivers gifts to hurting children while also telling them about God’s greatest gift - His Son, Jesus Christ.  For more information on this mission contact Dawn Reuther.
